Humanists will tell you that our problems find their origin outside a person and the solution lies within.
The
Bible argues that the problem is within, namely sin, and the solution is
without, namely God.

It is important to study your biblical history and their real-life historical contexts outside of the redacted scriptures alone before you delve into them.
The reason: Your relationship to God is central and more important than anything thrown together and said from a biased and heavily-politicized pulpit. You have to ultimately draw your conclusions.
St. Augustine is the worst thing to happen to Christianity, so you better look him up. The Crusades. The Spanish Inquisition. The Protestant Reclaimation. The proliferation of the prosperity ministry of the mega-churches around the globe. You do realize that frauds like Joel Osteen never went to seminary when he inherited the "rock star ministry" from his own father, right?
Open your eyes. Do your own research into what you were "only fed" as the truth. Do your own research into its venerable yet tumultuous 3,600 year history.
Here's an adequate start: www.wikipedia.org
It at least beats getting it from only a handful of "mortals" from the pulpit. A reverend is as equally blessed by God as you and your own family members.
When problems come from "the outside," you can bet they originate from the "un-Godly" places of this world. And those places are just way too many, so stick to the righteous path of the heart within and do not rely on the outside world which does not have your best interests at heart.
You know who has your best interests, as always. The sole-relationship of GOD and YOU.

Always remember this. ~
God is "within us" the true believers.
