IS THIS STATEMENT TRUE?

"Hatred is actually a species of love- the love of self."

No. It sounds clever. But if it's clever it is that strange species of clever: cleverness that is actually stupidity.

I don't know. I'm honestly a little foggy on this one. It seems to me that hatred is always motivated by love of something. Even God's hatred for sin flows naturally from a love for His glory. I honestly can't think of an instance where hatred is not a product of love. Why does Satan hate God and His people? The answer is that he loves himself. When I disect hate in my own heart I find at its root a love of self. At the very least love and hate are related. I'll have to process that some more. I'm not sure why it sits poorly in my mind though. Of course, there is 1 Cor. 13 which defines love as being separate from hatred. Biblical love cannot be related to hate. However, Satan loves stuff too, and that love finds expression in hatred.

I need to be learned.

Back that truck up and drop some truth on me. BEEP BEEP BEEP!

I'm honestly curious for you to expand a little on your objection. Don't let me wander off the resrrvation on this one.
