LIVING LIFE ON THE RECORD- 5/30-6/5

Just the facts. My week in review.

Sunday- Warm, sunny day. Went to church in the morning then hustled back home so I could settle up with one of the guest groups that was scheduled to leave after lunch. Sarah and Nanny left with the kids for the valley at around 2:00pm. They took the van, leaving me with Nanny’s car so I could follow them down later that night. Took a nap from 3:00pm to 4:00pm. Dinner in the dining hall- Caesar chicken with rice pilaf. I left for the valley myself at around 7:45pm.

Monday- Lisa Richard’s Birthday. Nanny made us all breakfast in the morning, then we loaded up the van and accompanied her to Sig’s to help her pick out a fountain for her backyard. Then, with kids still soggy from the fountains, we went to the mall to purchase a birthday gift for Lisa. In the afternoon we took the kids swimming at the Rini’s pool before getting dressed, bidding Nanny adieu, and heading up to Castaic for Lisa’s birthday party. We had received word earlier in the day that John had arrived and it was good to see him again at the party. He’ll be coming up to Idyllwild later in the week and plans to stay through the weekend. Chicken burgers and chips in the backyard for dinner. Left the party at 9:00pm, Loaded up the kids and set a course for Idyllwild arriving home at 11:45pm. By midnight I was snoring.

Tuesday- Warm, sunny day. The kids shouldered their back packs and headed back to school. Kind of an uneventful day. Pasta in a red sauce and garlic bread for dinner. Fell asleep putting the kids to bed again. Stumbled downstairs at around 10:30pm to find that Katie Bayer was over visiting Sarah. I excused myself, stumbled back upstairs, and went back to sleep. Did no coursework.

Wednesday- Woke up early- 5:45 am. Watched some news before the house came alive. Bowden excited today because his class was going on a field trip to the Idyllwild Nature Museum. Spoke with Dad on the phone briefly in the morning. Dinner- cubed chicken in a sauce over egg noodles with beets on the side. Uncle John and Lisa arrived after the kids were in bed. Enjoyed hanging out with them and hearing what they had been up to since John flew in on Monday. Among other things, they had been to the Getty the day before and had been to see a Dodger’s game that day before heading up the hill. Worked on coursework for a few hours before turning in at approximately midnight.

Thursday- Warm, sunny day. Woke up an hour late for my weekly Father’s roundtable, but still went anyway. Oops. In the morning, several ladies came over to go walking with Sarah. Lunch with John and Lisa. They also accompanied us on an excursion to Hemet in the evening for groceries and such. We left after I got off work at 4:00pm. Dinner at Red Robin- Burning Love Burger with fries and a diet coke. While Sarah and Lisa went to the grocery store John and I watched the kids at a nearby park. Bumped into Lacey Morris while at the park. I anticipated an early start on Friday so I went to bed at 10:00pm. Did no coursework.

Friday- Hot and sunny. Worked for much of the day. Spent some time in the morning getting ready for the arrival of Service Camp. Hung out with John and Lisa. Lots of friends arrived for Service Camp. The Hutchins joined us for dinner as well as John and Lisa- Pizza and diet pepsi. Moonlight pie at 9:30. The Irvings arrived at night. Stayed up visiting until midnight.

Saturday- HOT and sunny. Work day at the camp. Lots of folks in attendance. Enjoyed visiting with the Irvings, Hutchins and John throughout the day. Roast beef in the dining hall for dinner. At 7:30 we had a campfire. I dressed up as Chief Winded Buffalo and appeared from the forest to lead a brief devotional for the assembled campers by the campfire. Then we all enjoyed smores to wrap up the service camp. Hung out with the Irvings, Hutchins and John and Lisa until 10:30 when they began a game of Catan in the living room while Sarah and I went to bed.

I think this is one of, if not definitely is, my favorite segment. I also really like your shoes segment for some reason.
